Domestic Violence & Safety

Florida Domestic Violence Hotlines, by County

Every Florida county is served by a state-certified domestic violence center offering free, confidential, 24-hour help — emergency shelter, safety planning, and advocacy. Find your county below, or call the statewide line and you'll be connected to the right center automatically.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

These statewide and national lines are free, confidential, and staffed 24/7. They will connect you to help anywhere in Florida.

How this works

Florida has 41 state-certified domestic violence centers, and together they cover all 67 counties. Each center runs a 24-hour crisis hotline and provides emergency shelter, safety planning, injunction help, counseling, and advocacy — all free and confidential, whether or not you stay in shelter.

You do not have to know which center serves you. The statewide hotline, 1-800-500-1119, answers around the clock in English, Spanish, and Creole and connects you to the certified center for your county. The list below is for when you'd rather call your local center directly.

A domestic violence center is far more than a phone number

Florida's certified centers provide emergency shelter, confidential safety planning, support groups and counseling, children's programs, and court advocacy — including help preparing and filing a petition for an injunction for protection. You do not have to stay in shelter to use these services, and you do not need money, an ID, or immigration status to be helped.

Need help with the court paperwork itself? See How to File for an Injunction and Types of Florida Injunctions.

Most misunderstood point: the statewide hotline already knows your county

People often hesitate because they don't know which center serves them. You don't need to. Calling 1-800-500-1119 connects you to the certified center for your area automatically, 24 hours a day. The county list above simply lets you reach your local center directly if you prefer. Local numbers occasionally change; the statewide line does not.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these calls really free and confidential?

Yes. Services from Florida's certified domestic violence centers are free, and advocates keep your information confidential. You can call to talk, get information, plan for safety, or ask about shelter without giving your name. Note that no service can promise absolute confidentiality in every situation (for example, where a child's safety is involved), so it's fair to ask the advocate how confidentiality works in your case.

What's the difference between 911, the statewide hotline, and the legal hotline?

911 is for an emergency happening now. The Florida Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-500-1119) connects you to your local certified center for shelter, safety planning, and support, 24/7. The Florida DV Legal Hotline (1-850-385-0611) offers free legal advice and injunction help during weekday business hours.

Can men call these hotlines?

Yes. Florida's certified centers serve all adult survivors of domestic violence and their children, regardless of gender, and many provide shelter or alternative safe housing for men as well.

Do I need to leave my relationship or go to a shelter to get help?

No. Most people who use a center never stay in shelter. Outreach services — safety planning, counseling, court advocacy, and information — are available whether or not you leave and whether or not you ever set foot in a shelter.

What if my county's local number doesn't connect?

Call the statewide hotline at 1-800-500-1119. It's answered 24/7 and routes you to the correct certified center. You can also use the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 (or text START to 88788).

Is calling a hotline the same as filing a police report or a court case?

No. Calling a hotline does not start a criminal case or a court case by itself. Advocates can explain your options — including how to report to law enforcement and how to ask the court for an injunction for protection — but the choice of whether and how to proceed is yours.
